The honest position on Selank side effects is that the human safety data is limited. What exists comes mainly from small Russian studies, plus preclinical rat and cell work aimed at mechanism rather than adverse-event documentation, so there is little large-scale safety reporting to draw on.[1][2]
Reviewed for accuracy · Last reviewed July 7, 2026In the small comparative trial, Selank was described as generally well tolerated relative to a benzodiazepine comparator, and as an intranasal peptide the effect most often mentioned is mild, transient nasal irritation. Beyond that, its adverse-effect profile is not well characterized. Because it is a research compound outside Russia and often sold as unregulated material, product quality and accurate concentration are practical concerns alongside any biological effect.
With limited safety data, unknowns dominate. Signs of an allergic reaction after dosing are a reason to stop and seek medical attention rather than continue.
